The Ogress of Reading

In the late 1800's Amelia Dyer made a name for herself. The child of a shoemaker and a mentally ill mother, she became a caretaker at a young age. After the passing of her mother, she sought out a life of her own, but wanted the money for little work. After the passing of father, Samuel, Amelia went home for her share of the family money, but it was for not. Once again leaving, never to see her family again. Instead she found work as a nurse, there introduced to the exploitation of unwed mothers. Baby farm entered her world and she became a prominent member of that type of society. The underbelly filled with nefarious acts and danger. Using her knowledge of the mentally ill to her advantage when the law came knocking. For years she traveled town to town killing babies in the guise of adoption. Until one of her victims found a bargeman his curiosity led to an investigation that brought police straight back to Amelia. Ending her terror on vulnerable women.
